Physicians Mutual Med Supp Changes in 13 States
New plans in nine states, Select rate adjustments in four, and updated application booklets for Ohio and Pennsylvania
A Physicians Select client in Indiana calls about a letter announcing a 19% rate increase, and on the same afternoon a new client in Texas asks about Physicians Mutual's new Medicare Supplement plans. Both conversations go better when you already know what changed and where to find the right forms.
Physicians Mutual has rolled out its new Wellness Plus Medicare Supplement portfolio in nine states, announced rate adjustments on Physicians Select 2023 Medicare Supplement policies in four states, and revised its Select application booklets for Ohio and Pennsylvania. Products and features vary by state, so find yours below.

Physicians Select Rate Adjustments
Physicians Mutual is sending notices to owners of in-force Physicians Select 2023 Medicare Supplement policies about these rate changes:
State | Rate change | Effective |
|---|---|---|
Ohio | 19% | October 1, 2026 |
Pennsylvania | 15% | October 1, 2026 |
Colorado | 8% | November 1, 2026 |
Indiana | 19% | November 1, 2026 |
Physicians Mutual says the Colorado and Indiana adjustments reflect higher claim trends from increased utilization after the pandemic. For clients with attained-age policies, an additional increase due to age may apply.
When rates can change. Initial rate increases don't occur until at least six months from the policy effective date in Ohio, Colorado, and Indiana, and at least twelve months in Pennsylvania. Subsequent increases don't take place until at least twelve months after the last rate change.
See your clients' new premiums. The Rate Changes section in FACI shows each client's rate change date (Received Date), new premium amount, current payment mode, state, and the dates the rate change letter is due and was sent.
Updated Select Application Booklets for Ohio and Pennsylvania
Because of the October 1 rate adjustment, revised Medicare Supplement Select forms for Ohio and Pennsylvania must be used effective October 1, 2026. The Application Booklet front cover and the Outline of Coverage cover page (including rates) have both been updated to the -1026 revision date. Order updated booklets through Marketing & Sales Materials (S3) on the Agent Portal, and destroy any existing booklets with the old rates.
Paper application booklets are only needed when you're meeting with an applicant in person and not using the electronic application. If you're using the electronic application and need to send compliance documents manually because the client has no email address, the required documents are Choosing a Medigap Policy: A Guide to Health Insurance for People with Medicare, the Medicare Supplement Brochure, and the Medicare Supplement Application Booklet, all available on S3.
