NEWS: Ameritas Announces Payment Processing & Virginia Dental Policy Changes

September 25, 2026•2 min read

Ameritas has announced two important updates affecting group premium payment processing and Virginia dental policies. Agents should review the changes below to understand what is changing and when action may be needed.

New Payment Processor: Paymentus

Effective September 16, 2026, premium payment processing for group policies will transition to Paymentus. Individual policies are expected to transition to the new processing system in early October.

The new Paymentus platform will provide group policyholders with:

  • A more modernized payment experience

  • The ability to pay multiple group division invoices at the same time

  • Greater payment flexibility, including the option to pay a custom amount

  • Printable payment confirmations and receipts for recordkeeping

Important for Group Policyholders

To help ensure premium payments continue to process smoothly, group policyholders will need to contact their bank and update the Paymentus Originator ID — 0000000160 — associated with their ACH payments.

Individual policyholders will receive additional information regarding the transition in October.

Virginia Dental Policy Changes

Virginia now requires dental, vision, and hearing benefits to be offered separately. As a result, policies sitused in Virginia may no longer include Fusion, LASIK, hearing, or Ameritas Rewards®. Dental plans may still include Dental Rewards®.

Existing Virginia Business

Group policies: Affected group policyholders will be notified of the transition to a dental-only policy and/or vision-only policy beginning with January 2027 renewals.

Individual policies: Affected individual policyholders will be renewed into a dental-only policy in October.

New Virginia Business

  • Group quoting platforms will be updated this week.

  • Individual shopping sites will be updated as of September 30.

Important: These Virginia changes apply only to groups with Virginia as the situs state. They do not apply to groups with a different situs state that have members or a division in Virginia, or to self-funded (ASO) plans.

What Agents Should Know

If you work with Ameritas group or individual business, review these changes and be prepared for the upcoming transitions—particularly for Virginia-situs groups and affected individual policies.

Keep an eye out for additional Ameritas communications as these updates take effect.
